We are fortunate enough to receive an overwhelming number of bread and meat donations each week, but before distribution, each donation must be sorted for quality. This activity is perfect for student and youth groups, and we'd love to have your help.
Each Friday afternoon from 1 pm - 3 pm, we open our warehouse to "fill the food bank" and conduct a massive volunteer group sort of donated retail meat and baked good products to stock the food bank for the upcoming week. Our partner agencies and direct service programs like the mobile pantry rely on this product on a daily basis. This project allows us to be more efficient in making sure the high demand meat and baked goods are sorted and ready for distribution.
Volunteer groups sort through donated frozen retail meat and baked goods, throwing away items with broken packaging, and sorting them into assigned categories. This is a great hands on experience - product sorted will directly benefit our clients within days!
This project is perfect for individuals, or groups of up to 30.
